Production log for a music video

On the 10th of January 2014, my group and I did some test shots of a couple of scenes in our music video to see the different ways in which we could shoot it and what suited it best. Throughout this process I was being filmed as I am acting in our video, Hope filmed both of the scenes and Beth wrote notes about what we did and what decisions we made.
We started with practicing a shot of scene 4 shot 3, when the camera pans across my face whilst I mime the lyrics “she’s got a pretty kind of dirty face”. Firstly we went to the white room in college as that is where we are filming our actual music video but unfortunately it had been booked out and was in use so instead we found that the concrete stairs was suitable to this shot as it had the white background like in the white room and the lighting from the two windows either side of the shot let the correct kind of light come through into the shot. When we started filming we took a few shots and looked back over them, we then decided that the camera was too zoomed in as you could not see the top of bottom of my face so we then zoomed out a bit and took a few more of the same shot but this time changing the speed of the camera pan as well as having the camera zoomed out a bit so that the top of shoulders and my head could be seen. This all took us about 10 minutes to get a shot that we were all happy with. During the filming process of this shot the risks and hazards that we were aware of were definitely the stairs so we made sure that we were filming away from the downwards stair case to prevent any of us from possibly falling down them.
After we had finished this shot our camera died so we went back to the classroom to charge it up for the next shot.
During the time of the camera charging we all decided that we weren’t worried about the background or lighting with this shot so we decided to stay in the classroom to film it. The next shot was scene 1 shot 2 which took us about 15 minutes to finish and get an appropriate shot of the camera spiraling up and down my body.
Before we had filmed this shot we all looked at the best way of showing a turning motion in it, we all decided to just try two ways of doing it: the camera moving up and down slowly whilst I turned around twice or I would stand still and Hope would hold the camera and slowly move the camera up and down me.
We tried both these ways and found that the when I turned it looks very unnatural and unprofessional however when I stood still and the camera moved around me it looked a lot better and very effective. So we practiced this way again but slowed down the pace that Hope moved around me which benefited the shot a lot as it took up more of the time and it looked very relaxed but active.
During the process of filming this shot there we didn’t really find any major risks except for when Hope was spirally around me she wouldn’t have been paying attention to where she was walking so we had to move any tables or chairs that she could have tripped over.
